Odisha scientist and South African scientist together developed a new technology

An Odisha scientist Dr Sanjib Kumar Karmee and a South African scientist Prof Sanette Marx together discovered a new technical procedure of making liquid biofuels. The team led by both the scientists initiated to turn the coffee wastage in fresh liquid biofuels. After discovering such a ground-breaking technique, the Odisha scientist stated that the credit of the success goes to the whole team. He also mentioned the name of the other researchers and their experimental work behind the success. Well, it is undoubtedly a proud moment for all the dwellers of the state. To learn more about the discovery, read till the end.

More details about the research and the discovery

Globally, people consume over 2 billion cups of coffee on a daily basis. However, most of the remainders of the coffee grounds of the beverage are thrown away. In fact, approximately, people dump approximately 6 to 9 million tonnes of used coffee grounds per year. Since the decomposition of the thrown-away coffee residues discharges methane, it is extremely harmful for the nature. Keeping it in view, Dr Sanjib Kumar Karmee and Prof Sanette Marx along with the other researchers developed this revolutionary procedure.

Statement of Dr Karmee

Dr Karmee in an exclusive interview stated that by availing of their newly developed process, people can conveniently convert the coffee wastage into renewable diesel as well as biodiesel. He even mentioned that this technology is extremely helpful for both the entrepreneurs and the farmers. It is because the sole objective of this techbnilogy is to convert the waste into wealth. In addition, the discovery keeps the environment safe as well. Rayagada, Koraput, Phulbani, and Keonjhar are one major coffee producing districts in the state. Thus, new technology will be of great assistance for those mentioned districts. The findings of the research are published in the reputed journal namely Biofuels.
