Yesterday, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr Naveen Patnaik declared to reopen the tourism sector of the state. Due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, the state government ceased Odisha tourism for around 6 months. Finally, on Sunday, he announced the reopening of tourism at an exclusive event to observe World Tourism Day.
There, the CM of the state invited all the global travellers to visit the state and enjoy its tradition while maintaining COVID-safety measurements. He further promised to unlock the state’s vast offerings. Speaking of the state’s attraction, Mr Patnaik mentioned about the captivating monuments, impressive natural beauty, and various flora and fauna.
Odisha’s World Tourism Day Theme in 2020
At the event, Mr Naveen Patnaik expressed that this year, the World Tourism Day theme of the state is Rural Tourism. The local communities in Odisha run the eco-tourism nature camps in a great manner. Thus, the rural economy is receiving much favour from it.
Initiatives by the Chief Minister
For enhancing the tourism department, the CM in Odisha launched a campaign namely “Odisha by Road”. In addition, he declared about the authentic cuisines in Odisha ‘Nimantran’ as part of the new initiatives for the tourism department.

In order to launch the campaign ‘Odisha by Road’, the authority arranged a bike rally namely Kalinga Rides. The sole objective is to motivate the tourists of the state along with the neighbouring areas to tour the excellent places in Odisha.
While commencing the superbike rally, the Tourism and Culture Minister of the state, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi delivered his speech. He stated the importance of undertaking safety measurement while touring. Besides all these, OTDC arranged a package for day picnic ‘Bana Bhoji’. The goal is to boost the tourism sector of the state by organizing visits to the neighboring nature camps.
