Odisha government has made the COVID safety measurements firmer than before. Each and every dweller of the state has to obey the guidelines thoroughly. The rules are some for both the common people and the political leaders. There is no discrimination in the case of abiding by the safety measurements. According to the latest updates, on Wednesday morning, a Sarpanch from Gaurenmunda panchayat district has to provide a penalty amount of Rs 1 lakh for violating the COVID safety guidelines. The source has further stated that the fine is imposed by the Gaisilet’s Block Development Officer in Bargarh. Read ahead to learn more about the matter.
The reason behind imposing the fine
As per the sources, yesterday, i.e. on Tuesday, the Gaurenmunda panchayat’s Sarpanch Mr Malaba Sahu arranged an assembly. The gathering took place on the block office’s premises. The reports have suggested that about 150 villagers accumulated there. Due to this reason, the Block Development Officer namely Mr Niranjan Sa charged the fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Sarpanch.
With the assistance of a few villagers, Mr Malaba Sahu had gathered around the BDO office claiming the accusations of Kerosene scandal. Well, this has been known from different sources.
BDO’s letter to the Sarpanch
Later the incident, the BDO reasoned that the gherao from the part of the Sarpanch was illegitimate. Considering this fact, the BDO sent a letter to Mr Malaba Sahu. There he mentioned, the step that the Sarpanch took is clearly a terrorization against the officials of the blocks. Moreover, he also stated in the letter that the Sarpanch did not care to take any prior permission for arranging the assembly.
In addition, the BDO asked the Sarpanch to clear the fine. For that, he (BDO) gave three days of time to the village head. If he does not do that, the authority will take further actions against him.
