The political body of BJP in Odisha has protested against the issue of Puri Bagala Dharmasala. In fact, the Bharatiya Janata Party has indicated at the qualms of the state government. Several party leaders expressed their annoyance with the town of Puri. Meanwhile, the national spokesperson of BJP in Odisha Mr Sambit Patra cited the misgivings and lack of lucidity of the state authorities over the unlawful sale of Dharamsala. Keeping it in view, Mr Patra targeted the state government, Tourism dept, and Puri administration. Statement of Sambit Patra
Mr Patra shared a letter to the Chairman ITDC, noting that the centre had sanctioned an amount of Rs. 21 crore in order for developing the facilities provided to the pilgrims. The government offered assistance under the scheme of PRASAD. He further mentioned that ITDC began the task and spent around Rs 3.26 crore in the project after being assigned a plot close to Puri. Meanwhile, the government of Odisha unexpectedly halted the work.
Moreover, the authority asked to discontinue the project and stated that the project is yet to begin after six years. However, according to ITDC, the statement is totally wrong. ITDC even mentioned that the Odisha government chose to shift the Bishram Sthali to other sites. Mr Patra further revealed that it was a conspiracy from the part of the Odisha government for dropping the project. He even disclosed the involvement of BJD party behind this. Even the State Congress became vocal about the issue. MLA Sura Routray stated that instead of working on the development, they sold six plots illegally.
Accounts of the Tourism Minister
Disproving the allegations of unlawful plotting, the Odisha Tourism Minister Mr Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi made a comment. As per his statement, the state government is focusing on the beautification drive of the pilgrim town under the scheme of Abhada. He further noted that the authority has already informed the work dept about the land-associated issues of Bagala Dharmasala.
