The BJP MPs of Odisha have recently accused the state government about their ill-treatment towards the farmers. According to them, the authority has blocked the names of a total of 13 lakhs farmers to acquire the financial aid under the initiative of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. The MPs of the BJP party have further asked the central government for conducting an investigation into the anomalies in the scheme’s incorporation. A political leader of BJP met Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Agriculture Minister to converse over the matter. Read the below sections for having a clear picture of this case.

 Allegations on the state authority

As per a delegation of the BJP MPs, the state government is creating obstacles in providing the assistance of PM Kisan Scheme. The lawmakers of the BJP party claimed that all total 37,00,578 attained the aid of the first phase which is of Rs 2000. However, the reports suggest that in the sixth instalment only 20,01,292 farmers acquired the net amount of Rs 400.26 crore.

The Parliamentarians stated that only the State Government knows the reason for reducing the number of recipients under the scheme. While the number of receivers in the first instalment was 36, 70,489, it decreased to 31,58,589 in the second phase. In fact, the figure lowered even more in the third phase- 23,97,723. Moreover, in the fourth phase of the assistance, the count reached down to 20, 76,894. In the fifth phase of the aid, the numbers dropped to 20,03,185.

Government’s notification

The BJP members further mentioned the state government issued a notice regarding the scheme back on 30th November. It read; the small farmers would receive Rs 6000 under the PM-Kisan scheme. They would receive the remaining RS 4000 under the scheme namely KALIA. However, until now, there is no incorporation of data regarding the recipient list of the scheme of KALIA.
