In the upcoming UP assembly elections, Yogi Adityanath will face former BJP UP Vice-widow President’s Subhavati Shukla.

Subhavati Shukla of the Samajwadi Party will run against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Gorakhpur Urban constituency in the 2019 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Ms Shukla’s name appeared on the party’s list of 24 candidates, which was revealed on Monday.
On March 3, the Gorakhpur Urban constituency will vote in the sixth phase of the elections.

Ms Shukla is the widow of Upendra Shukla, a former top BJP leader from Gorakhpur who served as the UP BJP’s vice-president.

Subhavati Shukla and her two boys joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) on January 20 in Lucknow.

I guarantee him that I would register victory with record votes. After speaking with SP president Akhilesh Yadav, we decided to join the Samajwadi Party as per assembly elections. His thoughts on government and trust in the Constitution have impacted us.

We will make history, and victory will be a true monument to my father, he continued.

The SP also named Akhilesh Yadav, the son of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, as the candidate from Azamgarh’s Mubarakpur.
