Odisha would achieve the maximum railway investment ever in 2022-23, thanks to Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday that the Union government has provided the biggest ever commitment of Rs 9,734 crore in the Union Budget 2022-23 for the development of railways in Odisha.

Vaishnaw told media representatives from Odisha in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a new record by allocating Rs 9,734 crore for the development of railroads in Odisha. This fiscal amount is ten times that of the annual allocation provided under the Congress administration.”

Prime Minister has set a new record by allocating a huge investment for the railroads development in Odisha:

During 2009-14, the average annual budget allocation for railway roads in the state of Odisha was Rs 838 crore.

According to Vaishnaw, the average yearly budget allocation jumped by 392 percent. It is over 2014-19 compared to the average annual allocation given during the Congress period (2009-14).

Giving data on funds awarded to Odisha throughout the years. The Railways Minister stated that the Centre has provided Rs 4,568 crore to Odisha in the fiscal year 2019-20. It is 445 percent higher than the average annual budget allocation from 2009 to 2014.

The minister stated that a budget outlay of Rs 6,471 crore has been provided for railway projects in Odisha for the fiscal year 2021-22. Which is 660 percent more than the average annual budget outlay of 2009-14 (Rs 838 crore per year).

During the Modi government’s tenure, the railway sector in Odisha has been growth significantly; Vaishnaw said:

Work on establishing the facility will begin once the remaining land is provided by the state government.

As the Centre announced 400 new Vande Bharat trains in this budget. The minister stated that similar train service will be available in Odisha as well.

When asked about the delayed pace of certain key railway projects in the state, the minister stated that the biggest hurdles for the projects were land acquisition and forest clearances. He asked the Odisha government to get the land purchase process along as quickly as possible. He did, however, state that there is no shortage of funding in the state for railway expansion projects.
