PM unveils National Emblem cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building

 

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Monday, unveiled the National Emblem that is cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building. The construction work of the New Parliament Building is in progress, which is to get completed by October-November 2022. 

Facts

The National Emblem comprises bronze, which has undergone eight stages of preparation, from clay modelling to 3D computer graphics, bronze casting and polishing. The Emblem is 9500 Kg in weight and is 6.5 m in height. Also, a supporting structure is constructed around the National Emblem made up of steel.

The New Parliament building project is completely indigenous and built by TATA projects. The building will cost the government ₹ 1,250 crores.

The New Parliament building was initially expected to be completed before the 75th Independence Day as a landmark but later changed the deadline to October 2022. 

After unveiling the National Emblem, PM Modi interacted with the Shramjeevis or the workers involved in the construction of the new Parliament and appreciated their efforts with his Twitter handle quoting-“I had a wonderful interaction with the Shramjeevis who have been involved in the making of the Parliament. We are proud of their efforts and will always remember their contribution to our nation.”

During the unveiling of the National Emblem ceremony, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi and the Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri were present on unveiling occasion.

The National Emblem installation is made of bronze, its steel structure protecting it; the whole total construction is indigenous companies like TATA, Jio etc. The infrastructural development and its interiors and exteriors define the true meaning of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The designing, crafting, and casting show our country’s skills in every sector.

Therefore, the scenic, sublime beauty of the New Parliament Building depicts the preamble,”for the people and by the people”.
